Standard Infantry Enlisted Man's Uniform and Equipment for the First Maryland Regiment
Effective for New Purchase Only. If you have any questions about these standards, please contact the Captain. Guidelines for musicians are the same except that the coat colors are reversed. Due to the custom nature of officers uniforms of the period, officer guidelines are not explicitly available, however these guidelines are a solid foundation for any late war continental line uniform.
Members should remember that these are not "instant" requirements, they are guidelines and goals. We are attempting to guide new members purchases, with an eye towards not wasting ones money, and help older members with decision making when replacing worn out gear. We are trying to get the unit back a more uniform appearance but it is not our intention that we all look like cookie cutter soldiers.
Remember our stated uniform goal is the First Maryland Regiment after re-supply in 1780, just before joining the southern army. Keep in mind that the uniform should be neat, even if worn looking. The uniform will get dirty and worn enough in regular use without any special effort to distress it.
If you have any doubts or questions about these standards call the Captain before you make any purchases or make new gear! We are blessed with many sources of uniforms and gear and not all of them are accurate. Please try to keep this in mind! The officers do not want to have to tell you to put your new toy back in the tent any more than you want to waste money. The unit is a cooperative effort, it only works if we all pull together. We are preparing a recommended sutlers list, but it is up to you to ensure that even these sutlers give you appropriate goods.
